“Other Sights” encompass things that we’d generally list in the “what did you do on vacation?” category. With COVID taking such a large toll on the logistics, sightseeing became an afterthought.
Solvang
Solvang was a cute little Danish town northwest of Santa Barbara, that did not get on our radar until two days before the trip, when neighbor Jeff texted us about it. It was unique and charming, but oddly did not make it onto any of the “things to do” lists that we came across.
Santa Barbara
Santa Barbara was such a cool city that I wished we had spent more time there. Between breakfast and our timed zoo entry, we did manage to squeeze in two quick visits – the Courthouse and Old Mission.
Mission Trails Park, San Diego
We came here to meet up with Phil, who was studying to become a park volunteer. He showed us a few cool things around, including a digested carcass of a rodent that a fox spat out.
Maritime Museum of San Diego & USS Midway Museum
These were closed, but all the ships remained visible on the waterfront. On the other hand, while we originally had no interest in these museums, we were totally mesmerized when we drove by them.
Phil’s Backyard
Always good to see an old buddy, even if we had to keep the distance.
